The Ornaments of Life ...

musechristmasvisions.blogspot.caMuse:  ChristmasVisions Guest Designer

I am so thrilled and honored to be this week's guest designer for MCV.  In fact, I was so surprised when Ardyth asked me if I'd consider, I had to revisit her e-mail a few times to make sure I was reading it correctly!

My card for your inspiration is a snowman.  I thought it would be fun to stamp and color.  Did you know that coloring for adults is both relaxing and stimulating (that's what I keep reading)?  A number of details in my card may pique your interest for your own creation; I'm looking forward to seeing your designs.
MuseCVguestbadge (2)--stamped and colored snowman image (I used Prismacolors and altered the scarf by including a cross-hatch design)
--snowdrifts
--pierced panels
--scalloped panel
--patterned paper
--glossy accents on ornaments
--a few gems to resemble tiny snowflakes
--a little glitter on the snowman

MERRY Christmas

Muse:  ChristmasVisions 21

My card for this challenge is presented.  Ingrid provided us a very festive muse.  I was very challenged in making this card ... for one I had only two products with holly (the DP used and a microscopic-sized stamp)!!  I used the DP (that someone gave me) with small randomly placed holly and altered it by over-stamping with a ginger-colored ink using typewriter text.  For the underlying panel and "merry", I used a light copper-colored foil (foil is difficult to photograph ... it looks orange in the pic) that coordinates well with the ink.  For added interest I overlapped the letters in "merry."  Inspirations from Ingrid's card are:
-- text over-stamping
-- fishtail banner with sentiment
-- Merry Christmas sentiment
-- similar colors
-- holly

Hello

Muse Challenge #133

Our muse, Michele, provided us a gorgeous, colorful card using DP for our inspirations.  My card includes:
--flowered DP
--butterfly
--tag (the tag top is obscured in pic)
--sentiment
--black card base

Instead of embossing, I used silver foil cardstock (first, I tried gold but silver looked better).  Once I decided on the patterned paper (that took awhile to find ... it was at the bottom of a container!!), this card was very easy to make.  (On the first pic I took, the foil looked gold, and this one picked up a pink reflection.)

Thank you for looking and commenting ... your feedback is welcome and appreciated.

DP - DCWV (foil); stash (flowered)

Merry Christmas

NBUS (skyline border die)

For MCV19 Chriss provided the perfect inspiration to use my skyline die.  Also, I tried to make a similar heart (the one on her card is so precious) but my stamp was too big, so I went with one heart.  Inspirations taken from Chriss' card are:
-- colors
-- stars
-- heart
-- blue background
-- yellow "light" in the windows

Products used:

Muse Challenge #132

This week Joan provided us with a fun card for our inspiration.  For my card I used the:
-- general layout
-- a multi-phrase sentiment as the focal point
-- polka-dot paper
-- ribbon

I changed my colors to blue and green.  In lieu of a couple of sentiments inked in color, I chose to underline a couple of sentiments in color.  In place of the colorful flower in the sentiment, I used a heart.

Thank you for looking and commenting ... really appreciate your feedback.

Merry and Bright (MFT - CDSCC)

For my card for the RIC and NBUS please scroll down.

MFT - Card Designer Superstar Card Contest

For the ornament detail I used the Stripes Coverup by cutting two colors of foil paper, alternating the color strips and cutting again to get the small squares.  The ornament is derived from cutting with the Pierced Circle STAX and arranged on the panel (cut using Blueprints 2) so the squares look more like diamonds.  I topped it with a bow from Blueprints 3 and added small rhinestone gems.  The combination of foil paper and the gems results in lots of sparkle perfect for a holiday card.  I think the Merry and Bright sentiment pairs nicely with the ornament.  (Note:  I believe I saw the process using the Stripes Coverup on Jill Dewey Hawkins' blog that led me to the idea to try it with foil DP.)

Joy

Muse:  Christmas Visions 18

For this week's challenge Kimberly provided a stunning and gorgeous gold embossed card.  I took a playful approach with my card by stamping a present as the top ornament on one of the trees.  I stamped the trees with grey ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  (The embossing isn't noticeable, so I outlined the trees and the sentiment using a Gelly Roll marker).  A brushing of Wink of Stella gives some sparkle.  Inspirations from Kim's muse include:
--colors (I used most of them)
--three trees
--a tree top ornament (mine is a present)

hello

Muse Challenge #131

When I was playing golf a couple days ago, I found an intact bird feather that made me think of this week's Muse Challenge where Carol Mayne provided us an interesting CAS card using interesting and various colored feathers.  IRL the "hello" captures all the colors in Carol's card (although the photo blends the blues and greens).  I die cut the hello 3 times (once with the colors and the other two with black cardstock) and offset the black just a little to help the colors pop.  The inspirations I took from Carol's card are the
--feather theme by using one feather,
--colors,
--5 letters in hello (instead of using 5 feathers),
--stitched panel
